NEW YORK – Yoko Ono will again oppose the release of the man who nearly 30 years ago killed her husband, former Beatle John Lennon. Ono has consistently opposed parole for Mark David Chapman and has again sent a letter to the parole board. Her position has not changed said her attorney. Lennon was shot to death in 1980 and Chapman serving 20-years-to-life is seeking his sixth bid for parole since 2000. Ono wrote that if Chapman is released, "I am afraid it will bring back the nightmare, the chaos and confusion once again. Myself and John's two sons would not feel safe for the rest of our lives." My question is why should Yoko, whose husband was brutally murdered right in front of her be subjected to having to spend the rest of her life keeping her husband's murderer in prison? I feel this whole parole thing is insane. Chapman planned the murder and shot Lennon 5 times in the back as he was running for his life. Are we supposed to forgive all that because Chapman does his chores in prison and acts like a good boy? Lennon's son, Sean was 5 when his Dad was murdered and now he's 35 to put into perspective how much of life John was cheated out of by a man who now thinks he deserves freedom. Do you think parole and parole hearings should be abolished in murders which were clearly planned and coldblooded? If NY had the Death Penalty this guy would have been executed years ago....
